Penzance Golowan Festival - Mazey Day
Once again on Mazey Day and Quay Fair Day, celebrating mid-summer, the markets come to Golowan and this year - which is our 25th year - things may be especially interesting! You’re sure to have a great time looking round the stalls and watching the colourful processions which this year will have international themes. You’ll see traders selling a diverse range of products sourced from countries around the world and, of course, many Cornish items, crafts and foods. As you browse, keep a look out for: leather goods from Madagascar, Celtic dragon wood carvings, Nepalese fair trade goods, locally crafted jewellery, pottery and paintings created by local artists, Zulu beaded jewellery and much, much more.
Streets are closed to traffic and a real "party atmosphere" prevails amongst the throngs of sightseers and participants - both local and visitors.
There will be parades through the streets, with "wonderous" strange creatures, including many made by children of the local schools. Marching bands and dancers are included in the processions, while there are numerous street performers - musicians, singers, dancers and a variety of entertainers.
